The Gulf Pacific Group consists of a group of professionals who have been associated with the Company both before and since 1986, when Bruce Russell and Rolf Paterson purchased the controlling interest in Gulf Pacific Investments (1982) Ltd. and Gulf Pacific Realty Ltd. This assembly of professionals provides the Company with a broad range of knowledge, expertise, and energy for the management, development, and syndication of real estate. Gulf Pacific's mandate is to provide professional care, custody, and control of our clients' properties as though they were our own.
Gulf Pacific's open door management style encourages each of our senior managers to closely work with and benefit from the extensive knowledge and experience they collectively possess. While there are areas of specialization and specific responsibilities, we pride ourselves on, and are successful because of, our "team approach." This philosophy has served the Company well in the past and we believe it will sustain us in the future. The key personnel are:
R.B. (BRUCE) RUSSELL, B.Com. ~ Principal & President
Bruce has been associated with the Gulf Pacific Group since August 1987. He is actively involved in all aspects of development, acquisitions, syndication and leasing. Prior to acquiring equity in Gulf Pacific he was Vice President, Real Estate Administration for an Edmonton-based financial institution, with a real estate portfolio having a market value in excess of $250 million. With locations from Dorval, Quebec to Vancouver Island, BC, it was geographically diverse and included a variety of products ranging from raw land to golf courses, shopping centres, multi and single family residential, office buildings, industrial parks, and mobile home parks. Bruce has been a member/director/president of a number of clubs/organizations, community associations and since the late 1990's has been president and director of the Bowen Island Golf Club, leading the charge to build and operate a public course on Bowen Island.
H.R.B. (ROLF) PATERSON, B.Com., C.A. ~ Principal & Executive Vice-President
Rolf has been a principal since November 1986. As a former C.A., he is responsible for budgeting, accounting, reporting, legal, financing, insurance, and general administrative matters relating to the entire group of companies. In addition, he is actively involved in structuring the syndicates. Before joining Gulf Pacific, Rolf was President of Daiwa Canada Ltd., a leading manufacturer and distributor of sporting goods. Rolf has been a director and president of a number of clubs, sports organizations, a retirement home and presently is a director of the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.
R.A. (ROB) FORREST, B.Com., C.P.M., R.P.A., R.I. (BC) ~ Vice President Properties
Rob joined the Gulf Pacific Group, in May 1997, as Vice President Real Estate, heading up the property management services division which included lease administration, leasing, tenant liaison/retention and asset management. He has extensive experience throughout Western Canada in the Property/Asset Management field overseeing diverse portfolios ranging from shopping centres, multi-use developments, office buildings, industrial parks, and hotels to multi-family residential. Rob's pre-Gulf Pacific experience was acquired since 1977 with companies such as Trizec, Canadian Freehold, the Shon Group, Oxford and Brookfield LePage. Rob holds an Associate Brokers trading and rental management licence with the Real Estate Council of BC (RECBC). He is active in squash and has been chairman for a number of national doubles tournaments. He is presently (2011/12) president of the Evergreen Squash Club.
R.T. (ROB) HERSCHEID, C.G.A. ~ Controller
Rob joined the Gulf Pacific Group in 1991 bringing with him 9 years experience in property management accounting. In his capacity as Controller, Rob is responsible for the accounting staff, which handles all property and asset management accounting and the preparation of budgets, variance analysis, tenant schedules, and other supporting schedules required in the reporting to our clients. Before joining our group Rob worked for Grosvenor International Ltd., Royal LePage Property Management in the capacity of Assistant Controller and prior to this was a property management accountant with First City Property Management Group. His years of experience, coupled with the size and variety of real estate portfolio in which he was involved, has provided Rob, and in turn Gulf Pacific and their clients, with a wealth of knowledge essential for our timely and informative accounting/reporting obligations.
R.R.W. (RYAN) RUSSELL, DULE, Managing Broker ~ Vice President Property Services
Ryan joined the Gulf Pacific Group in 1997 while completing his Diploma in Urban Land Economics (DULE) at the University of British Columbia. In the fall of 2003, Ryan became the Managing Broker for Gulf Pacific Realty, overseeing all real estate transactions completed by the company, including sales, leasing and renewals. Ryan's 'hands on' approach to management issues and tenant relations enables him to represent both his clients and tenants in a first class manner. Ryan is an active member of the BC Shopping Centre Association (BCSCA), and the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) and holds a Managing Brokers licence with the Real Estate Council of BC (RECBC). Outside his long working hours Ryan is the father of two young children and active in a number of sporting activities.
